Westlake Ace Hardware

Westlake Ace Hardware in Tulsa has generously donated their seeds at the end of each growing season for the past two years.  In order to maintain the highest quality of seeds, Westlake starts each season with all new, fresh seeds.  This means that at the end of the season, all unsold seeds usually get discarded.  Rather than discarding them, Ken Kannon (General Manager) donates hundreds of packets of seeds each year to the Union High School botany program.  It is unbelievable to see how excited the students get while looking through the seed packets, proposing how the seeds should be used, and growing them in the garden and greenhouse.  Seeing hundreds of packets of seeds as they walk into class on the first day, students rapidly realize that this is a class that is based on real world experiences.

Thank you to Ken Kannon and Westlake Ace Hardware for profoundly improving the student experience here at Union!
