Cedar Rased Beds

The school garden raised beds are constructed with the outer face cut (the first cut which is typically burned or thrown away) of Eastern Red Cedar.  Cedar is a nuisance tree in Oklahoma, invading both rangeland and forest, and these beds demonstrate a new use for an otherwise underutilized Oklahoma Product.  Perry McDonald with Singing Wire Cedar has been very generous with donations of lumber for the project and speaking with students about opportunities in the forestry industry.
