Mushroom logs
In January of 2022, students decided to try to cultivate edible mushrooms. Post oak and elm logs were harvested from an area being cleared for new housing. The logs were then drilled, mushroom inoculant was hammered into the holes, then sealed with cheese wax. The mushrooms selected were chicken-of-the-woods, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms. The logs should start producing in fall of 2022.
